Job Description:
Alo7 was started by Dr. Pengkai Pan, PhD graduate from MIT Lab. Alo7 is the largest K-12 digital ESL curriculum developer. Our award-winning ESL curriculum is used by over 5000 schools in China.
You will get the opportunity to tutor English to Chinese students with Alo7's cutting-edge platform & interactive curriculum.

Your students have already learned the materials ahead of time in the classroom. Your tutoring is more of a review of what they have learned. This makes online tutoring with Alo7 much easier. Small group classes (1 tutor to 3+ students) make tutoring more fun and interactive.

All of your classes are booked by schools that offer more opportunities for steady classes and no last-minute cancellations.

We offer Class Delivery Workshops (CDW) to help you get used to our platform and curriculum. CDW is paid to you as a new tutor onboard package. 




Qualifications:

- Mother language must be English; must speak English at an idiomatic level and must be from US, Canada, UK, Australia. Most of your students will go abroad to study in one of these 4 countries. That's why schools require tutors with these accents.

- Required: 4-year Degree or College enrollment or Associate Degree

- ESL certificate is strongly recommended.

If you don't know any other foreign language, you can still teach English, as our interactive curriculum makes tutoring much easier.




Position Requirements:

- A quiet room with good lighting

Network / Wifi Speed:at least 4Mbps / 4Mbps (downlink and upper link)

Camera:HD External camera or HD integrated camera (Most laptops have it)

Headset:Use a headset with a microphone, stable output and input




Tutoring Hours:

Your students will be based in Asia, and will be on Beijing time.

The peak tutoring hours are 18:00 to 22:00 (6pm to 10pm) Beijing time, every day of the week, which converts to 6:00am to 10:00am EST Daylight Savings time. You are free to open any time slots during peak tutoring hours. The regular schedule is encouraged as schools will book a set of classes with you.







Generally:

If you are in USA, the most available hours are in the early morning.

If you are in Asia, the most available hours are at night.

If you are in Europe, the most available hours are in the middle of the day.







Compensation:

This is an independent contractor position. You have the potential to earn between $15 and $22 USD per hour.

Each 25-minute class pays $7.50 per class or each 50-minute pays $15 per class as the base rate. This base rate applies to most programs. On top of the base pay, we offer incentives of up to 37%. Most tutors start with $17.55 for a 50-minute class when they teach well.




Additional Opportunities

For outstanding tutors who have some extra time during the day, we often offer other freelance opportunities with ALO7, such as writing, presentation development, curriculum development.

We also offer freelance opportunities like recruiter/trainer to highly qualified tutors if they are willing to take on extra projects.
