Full Job Description                                                                
The Academic Director of Antigua Green School plays an essential role for the whole school and in the management team. This position is responsible for assisting the General Director with the general operation, leadership, supervision, and overseeing the entire teaching team, role modeling to academic staff and to students. This position sets the tone for a student-centered and community oriented culture that emphasizes project based learning and  environmental  education. 

The ideal candidate should have
Knowledge and passion for progressive education and has a student centered orientation.
Knowledge and passion for environmental education.
Effective planning and high organizational skills.
Experience in a bilingual educational environment.
Well developed people and communication skills.
Solid knowledge and experience in elementary (primary) education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  
Establish and promote Antigua Green School standards and expectations for all students and teaching team for academic performance.
Supervise the educational programs assigned by the general director, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to encourage the use of an inquiry based approach as well as project based learning.
Organize and conduct the entire recruitment process and retention of Antigua Green School teachers and specialized teachers focusing on creating a dynamic teaching team.
Involve with the research and design of educational approach and instructional methods.
Lead and promote effective communication between parents and teachers as well as the relationship with the PTO.
In charge of the general academic planning processes including school calendar, committees coordination, schedule preparation, and others that may apply. 
Ensure that academic personnel evaluation procedures are accomplished according to Antigua Green School goals and objectives.
Develop, recommend and provide professional development opportunities that address the needs of the educational program and needs of the teaching team.
Assist the general director with the administrative functions of the school regarding teaching team and students.
Supervise personnel as assigned by the general director to ensure that all job responsibilities are met. 
Maintain visibility with students, staff, parents and the community by attending school and community functions regularly to demonstrate a genuine interest in the students and school staff.
Assume responsibility for the health, safety and wellbeing of students, teaching team and visitors.
Serve as liaison between the teaching team and the technical director of the school regarding local education policies and  procedures.
Continue to grow professionally through collaboration with colleagues and professional growth experiences.
Coordinate the secondary academic operations including the Cambridge International program with the secondary principal.
Lead weekly staff meetings. 
Coordinate administrative efforts with the finance and operations departments.


Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five (5) years of teaching experience and two (2) years of related academic administrative experience
Languages: Native english speaker, basic conversational spanish is required.
